Now this is the BIG one!
What I am calling “The Clutter Pile” is the accumulation of possessions that I have that I have problems going through.
Many “experts” say that if you haven’t used something in 3 months – 6 months – 12 months – 3 years or more you should just automatically get rid of.
Perhaps that is true for your typical person with typical issues around accumulations of possessions and clutter, but I think that it is not so applicable to someone with issues around obsessive hoarding – compulsive hoarding which has lead to squalor at some level or another. For them, often the only reason they are not getting at some of their actual prized possessions or the things they actually “need” is that they can not get to them because of the items in their possession due to their disability and predilection to hoarding. If they could get at their important possessions they would be used on a regular basis.
So what am I going to do about my own clutter pile…?
